I find designing vehicle wraps and billboards a unique challenge. Both mediums are viewed on the move, often from a distance, so simplicity and clarity are key. For vehicles, the trick lies in ensuring the design flows smoothly working around windows, doors, and curves. Billboard designs must account for quick glances, meaning minimal text and strong visuals that create a lasting impression within seconds.
PROJECT: Belly Up Food Truck
A local restaurant launched a new food truck serving up hearty comfort foods made from scratch.
MY ROLE: I collaborated with the marketing team to integrate their new logo and color palette into the visual design for their truck. The goal was to create a fun and bold look, featuring their iconic pig prominently. This was one of the most complex vehicle wraps I’ve worked on in a while, providing a valuable learning experience. To aid the design process, I created a 3D prototype, which also gave me the perfect opportunity to explore and learn Blender.
PROJECT: Abbott’s Grill Billboards
Billboards were needed to promote a popular restaurant’s new location and event services.
MY ROLE: I designed the billboards to showcase their offerings in a way that grabs commuters’ attention in seconds, while staying true to the brand. For the restaurant board, I featured a single food item, as the key to any eatery promotion is to spark hunger and get people thinking about their next meal. For the event space and catering board, along with enticing event and food images, the headline clearly communicates that Abbott’s provides an affordable solution for event planning, where costs can often be a concern.
The universe is a wondrous place, full of beauty and mystery.
